The BBC’s ‘watch again’ player is fully launched today with The Queen’s Speech. It now runs as a flash player if you don’t want to download all the gubbins. Much better I say, and also makes it multi-platform for the first time. And you can also link to, but not embed links. I guess the embed option is not used as the content is only available for seven days – bit of a pain that – I am sure that will change soon.

Got this today – looks immense! I will be able to carry around every tune, video, podcast and photo I have. The size is amazing. My first iPod was 60gb, and I thought that was huge. One of the main reasons for upgrading has to be the video ability and new user interface – both of which are excellent.
This is a total indulgance mind you, and I did’t REALLY need it. I had a good play with the iPhone in the Apple Store last night. It is really smart, but I was almost a little bit disapointed. It is a bit bigger and thicker than I thought, and the OS was a tad sluggish. I reckon I would love one, but may be a little disapointed. It is hard for anything to live up to such hype.
I think I am glad I managed to control myself and wait until the later versions. V2 will be out in January, and they are already working on version 4. Also out in Jan is expected an Apple sub-notebook – their first since my 12″ PowerBook stopped production.
That is something I am sure I am going to be interested in. Although, with classic timing, I just bought a 2nd hand white MacBook on eBay and have since upgraded the memory to 2gb and hard drive to 250gb – it is a flying machine. Never mind, something that spec should have good resale value – esp once I upgrade it to Leapord/Vista/Office 2007 & Office for Mac 2008! Niiiiiice!

Glad to report that that my MacBook memory upgrade went well last night – 1gb > 2gb – very easy to do. These instructions helped. It seems to run even smoother now.
Next go the hard drive upgrade. Think I will go for the 250gb – hope it supports it. That will be a bit more fiddly, as I have to re-install the OS and partition the drives.
This would have been impossible for me today before today – as my MacBook was sold without the install discs. There is a roaring trade for these on eBay – I managed to get a set for £12. Pricy, but essential. I managed to finally change the admin password and I re-installed a fresh load of Tiger. Can’t seem to get rid of the BootCamp partition the last owner created, so I am missing 10gb, does not really matter once I upgrade.

Today was when internet shopping went mental. £750,000 a minute – £370m a day! I have to say I was very much a part of it – laying down a couple of hundred quid with Amazon to ship all my gifts to Aberdeen to make the trip north a bit lighter and my own lot a bit easier.
After getting stuck for an hour at Oxford Circus last year, clicking away at my own desk looked so much more appealing this year.
Good article from the Beeb inc. a tour of the Amazon warehouse. Looks very slick indeed!

Hmmm – I now own this:
not quite sure how that happened. I was really after a black one, they are a bit more grown up and have better specs. Mind you, once I have finished upgrading it, it will be a flying machine!
Plan to upgrade the memory from 1gb > 2gb and the hard drive from 60gb > 250gb. I mean – 60gb! Pah! My new iPod is 160gb!
Once I get Leopard on it and stick Vista on there too, along with iLife 08, iWork 08 and Appature – it will be amazing. It needs a bit of a clean, but it is in good nick. What a difference with the new Intel Core Duo 2ghz processors – makes my beloved old PowerBook look very tired indeed – well, she is 3 years old in January.

I bought one of these:
I thought it was time to replace my main iPod, and got a really good deal for a factory fresh one on e-bay, should get it this week, will report back how I get on with it. Prob an indulgance! It does have 160gb! Can you imagine that! Isn’t it huge!!
