Got to the queue at the O2 shop, 7 Oxford Street at 7.45am – not too big a queue. Still took over two hours to get to the front mind you, with a few heart stopping ‘we have no more 16gig phones’. Very lucky to get into the shop in the last tranch to get the 16gb. All they were selling were black ones, so that was fine.

Fairly straight forward sign up for us existing O2 customers. So chuffed to actually get one, seeing as I did’nt go for the first gen, and missed the online orders on Monday. Even sweeter to have had to work a little bit for it. That is O2 out of the 16gb ones now till next week. Demand is much much greater than last year. The price cut and better spec obviously helping!!

Ooooh, I have an iPhone!! Well cool! Goodbye Nokia, probably forever!

Well, what a morning, got a text at 8am, which I only saw at 9am telling me that I could pre-order the iPhone 3G for delivery on the Friday launch day online.

I tried lots of times and managed to get half way though twice, before the process was closed down at about  lunchtime.

Wow! 13,000 orders per second! Wow! Ok, fiar enough, no site could cope with that. Though it does seem like they have somewhat underestimated demand, which seems to be much much more than the original iPhone launch in the UK. Seems like the stores only have about 40 each with a total of 18,000 for the UK launch day!

A lot of people are going to be disapointed, I may be one of them. Will try my luck at the O2 store a 7 Oxford St, walking distance from my work – weel, lets see, will try to get there just before they open at 8.02am..
