Eclectic Blend

Published by elricb under Life, Web

Another domain I have owned forever – I used to have the dot com, but lost it to this wanker a MobileMe site, on redirect – sob! Where to begin!

Anyways, it was always going to be a depository for all the weird and wonderful stuff I found on the net, but never got around to it.

Well, I discovered Tumblr (what is it with ‘r’? Flickr, Dopler, and many more I should imagine) and within less than 30 mins, had set up a site, added most of my feeds from other sites (they only allow 5) and changed my A-Record to point to their servers, and I had a fully hosted, self updating depository for all the weird and wonderful stuff I find on the net.

So easy these days isnt it? Scary easy! I am thinking Tumblr is a much better option for WhatBarackDid – no redirect and a nicer interface, esp the callendar type view template – perfect – will change tomorrow.

What Barack Did

Published by elricb under Life, Tech, Web

I am sure it will be a question many people will be asking – so I thought I would start this up to answer it:

WhatBarackDid.com

I am going to try and set it up so that it is quite self propagating, with various feeds, and my own comment – I won’t be able to post a round up each day, though to be a success and an internet phenomenon, that is prob what it needs.

I have been struck this evening how quick you can have an idea, buy a domain name, start a blog, write a post and add in a few feeds and have a fully functioning web site in a few minutes – that used to take hours and hours and hours.

Alas, WhatObamaDid.com was taken by a cybersquatter. I got my hands on WhatObamaDid.co.uk | WhatWouldBarackDo.co.uk | WhatWouldObamaDo.co.uk

Lets see if anything comes of it. Sorta inspired by When Obama Wins, by Jason Kottke

I loved these posters during the campaign, needlless to say, I wish I had bought one at $50 back in January!

Hope – the image that is already an American classic
