Twitter on Telly

Published by elricb under BBC, Web

Johnathan Ross and Stephen Fry chatted about Twitter just now on Johnathan’s return to his show. Both are big Twitter users and I follow them both.

Twitter has gone mad with new users and chat about it.

Looks like Stephen was watching too.

BBC TV on the web redefined

Published by elricb under BBC, TV, Web

I completely missed the fact that the BBC re-designed all their TV channel landing pages to include live streaming of each channel and integrated with the schedule listings, giving each episode of each programme on every TV channel which in turn is linked to the iPlayer. There is also a new TV schedule homepage and one for Programmes.

I love it, and it is very slick with a very smart, accessible and classy design.

They get it right time and time again on the web the BBC. Their phenomenal resources help massively of course!

Plane crash into Hudson River

Published by elricb under BBC, Photography, Tech, Web

Plane crash into Hudson River by grego!

Social media in action – Flickr had photos of this before the BBC News Online did and Twitter had the story before it was on their home page. Amazing shot of the passengers on the planes wings. I’m going to use this as a case study one day.

Update: They keep coming this twitter user Janis Krums is on one of the ferries his twitpic is here.

Update 2: Rory Cellan-Jones has blogged about what I was thinking last night – that the Hudson crash broke on twitter. He also heard about Steve Job’s medical leave through the service too.

Britain from Above

Published by elricb under BBC, Tech, Web

This looks amazing, and check it out – you can finally embed BBC video! Well, for this project you can:

As Nick Cohen explains here, “One nice new feature is embeddable video: you can click on “SHARE” and host the clips, for example in your blog” – thanks Nick, I have.

The series launches on August 10 on BBC One at 9pm and BBC Two at 10pm.

Little Ilford School

For some reason, the school really annoys me with it’s blatant plagiarism, I hope the pupils and parents have taken note. It is staggering, they have not even changed the metadata!

BBC News video to share

Published by elricb under BBC

You can share BBC News video now, thanks to their new EMP (embedded midea player).

Here is one of my faves:

no sign of being able to embed it on your own site yet mind you, that will be the coolest, and can’t be too far away!
