Icelandic Volcanic Ash
Unheard of scenes at UK airports today as all flights were grounded due to volcanic ash drifting over form Iceland.

Aberdeen in the Snow
I flew in yesterday to see some of the deepest snow we have had for many a year.
The views from the plane were lovely, the quiet monochrome landscape.
Overnight around a foot fell and blanketed the City. Roads were fairly bad, one of the main routes was closed for a bit along with the airport, but all was well later in the day.
We are hardy buggers.

Off to The Deen
Homeland bound for a week. I liked this shot of two BA jets passing a
window. Though, I’m not flying with them.
The chance of strikes is not a chance worth taking.

Burj Dubai tops out at 818m
I had missed this story – not even sure it is offical – but it seems that the worlds newest tallest building, the Burj Dubai, has topped out at a staggering 818m (164 floors) on 17th Jan 2009. What a sight it must be from the top.
Economic conditions ensure it will hold the record for some time, perhaps until 2020.

Epsom Downs
Still had a lot of snow yesterday. I loved the colour of the sky against the snow. As ever, wished I had my better camera with me.

Evening at The Club's
Had a fascinating evening tonight at the Travellers and Athenæum Club’s on Pall Mall. Both have fascinating histories, and have been on Pall Mall since the 1830’s.

The Athenæum:

It was amazing to see inside these hollowed halls of influence and power.
